CROW
1966 Luders 33 - Hull #10
Blue Hill, Maine
|
CROW is a Luders 33 (Hull #10) on her 4th owner since being built by the Allied Boat Company of Catskill, NY in 1966. On this site I'll attempt to document some of my upgrades, mods & repairs during my ownership, which began in the Fall of 2017.
CROW has been well cared for over the years with some major work accomplished for her last owner such as: toerail replacement; navigation instrument upgrades; as well as sail & canvas replacement. The boat is 56 years old and other things are being addressed over time. She is also tiller steered - not wheel. She had been across the Atlantic to Scotland, to Newfoundland and to the Caribbean, for both owner pleasure and charter. She spent many of her 56 years home ported in Maryland and in Maine, for private use and charter though no charter took place under her 3rd owner and none will be under her 4th! There are risks in chartering (private use as well) as depicted in the article below - from a pre-1995 event. CROW is none the worse for that event and the use of CORVUS as a name in the article is baffling - but it is the genus Crow. I figured it out. You can see the full story on Page 42 by using the link below or download the PDF. Archived "Points East" are available on their site. My "Response" is in the December 2017 Issue.
